Exterior Painting

How an Exterior Job Works

Six steps from first call to final walkthrough. The midpoint walkthrough — where Dylan walks the prep work with you before the first stroke of paint — is the step most painters skip. It's also the reason our exterior jobs hold up.

Step 1

Free On-Site Estimate

What We Do

Dylan walks your entire exterior — every surface, every problem area. He documents rot, failed caulk, peeling paint, and anything else that needs to be addressed before a brush touches the home.

What You Do

Ask every question you have. There's no sales pressure and no obligation. You'll leave the walkthrough knowing exactly what the project involves and what it costs.

No deposit required. You only pay after the project is complete and you've approved the finished work.

Step 2

Written Scope of Work

What We Do

You receive a detailed written scope before work starts — surfaces to be painted, repairs included, products being used, and warranty terms. No verbal promises, everything in writing.

What You Do

Review the scope at your own pace. If anything needs adjusting, we work through it before scheduling. Once you approve, we lock in your start date.

The scope covers materials (Sherwin-Williams product line, sheen selections), prep methods, and your written workmanship warranty.

Step 3

Midpoint Walkthrough — You Approve Before PaintingKey Difference

What We Do

Before any paint is applied, Dylan walks every surface with you to inspect the prep work. You check the pressure washing, caulking, wood repairs, and primer — together. Nothing goes on the house until you've signed off.

What You Do

Walk the perimeter with Dylan. If you see anything that needs more attention — a spot that was missed, a board that needs replacing — it gets addressed before the first brushstroke.

This is the step most painters skip. It's also the most important. We've seen jobs fail because the prep wasn't inspected — this walkthrough prevents that.

Step 4

Pressure Wash & Surface Prep

What We Do

We pressure wash the entire exterior to remove mildew, oxidation, dirt, and chalk. Every joint, penetration, and gap is sealed with SherMax elastomeric caulk. Rotted wood is repaired or replaced. Groundline and roofline areas receive full primer coverage.

What You Do

You don't need to be home during prep — but we document everything with photos so you can see the starting condition and what was done.

Prep is where the job is won or lost. Paint applied over dirty, damaged, or unsealed surfaces will fail early regardless of the product.

Step 5

Painting

What We Do

Primer coats applied where needed, then topcoat applied by brush and roller — no airless spray on occupied homes unless conditions specifically warrant it. Two coats on all surfaces included in the scope.

What You Do

You can be home or away. We work clean, protect landscaping and hardscaping, and don't leave mid-project.

Product applied matches the approved scope exactly — Latitude, Duration, or Emerald Rain Refresh, at the sheen selected.

Step 6

Final Walkthrough & Payment

What We Do

Dylan walks every inch of the project with you at completion. Any touch-up items are addressed on the spot. You approve the finished work before payment is collected.

What You Do

If something doesn't meet your expectations, it gets fixed before you pay. That's the commitment.

Your written warranty starts the day the project is complete.

Interior Painting

How an Interior Job Works

Six steps from estimate to finished room. We handle all furniture protection and cleanup — you don't need to do anything before we arrive.

Step 1

Free Estimate & Color Consult

What We Do

Dylan walks each room to be painted, discusses finish options, and documents any prep work needed — drywall repairs, trim conditions, ceiling texture. He brings Sherwin-Williams color fans if you want help selecting colors.

What You Do

No pressure, no time limit. If you're undecided on colors, Dylan can walk through options that work with your lighting, flooring, and furnishings.

Interior estimates cover walls, ceilings, trim, and any additional services (cabinet painting, drywall repair, popcorn ceiling removal) in a single scope.

Step 2

Pre-Paint Walkthrough & Approval

What We Do

Before the first stroke of paint, Dylan walks you through every room — surfaces, sheen selections, and any final adjustments confirmed. You approve the scope before the crew begins. Nothing starts until you're satisfied with the plan.

What You Do

Walk every room with Dylan. Confirm the surfaces, sheen, and any last-minute requests. Nothing starts until you're satisfied.

This step catches anything that came up between the estimate and start date — a room you decided to add, a sheen you want to adjust, a surface that needs extra attention.

Step 3

Furniture Protection & Room Prep

What We Do

Furniture is moved to the center of the room and fully covered with drop cloths. Floors are protected. All switch plates, outlet covers, and hardware are removed. Edges are taped meticulously.

What You Do

You don't need to move anything before we arrive. We handle furniture protection as part of prep.

We leave the space cleaner than we found it — no paint on floors, no tape residue on trim, no dust left behind.

Step 4

Drywall Repair & Surface PrepKey Difference

What We Do

All holes, nail pops, dings, and cracks are filled, sanded, and primed. Texture-matched where needed. Water-stained areas are sealed with appropriate primer before topcoat to prevent bleed-through.

What You Do

If you've noticed specific damage areas, point them out during the estimate walkthrough so we can include them in the scope.

Paint does not hide surface imperfections — it amplifies them. We don't paint over damage.

Step 5

Painting — Walls, Ceilings & Trim

What We Do

Ceilings painted first, then walls, then trim. Two coats on all surfaces. Cut lines done by brush, field rolled for maximum consistency. Trim painted with appropriate sheen to match the scope.

What You Do

You can stay home or leave — we work around your schedule. We don't leave a room half-done overnight.

Product applied matches the approved scope — Cashmere, Duration, or Emerald Interior at the selected sheen.

Step 6

Final Walkthrough & Payment

What We Do

Dylan walks every room with you after completion. Touch-ups addressed immediately. Furniture moved back to original placement. Hardware reinstalled.

What You Do

You approve the finished work before payment. If anything isn't right, we fix it first.

Your workmanship warranty begins at project completion.

Deck, Fence & Siding Staining

How a Staining Job Works

We use Cabot WoodScapes® for wood siding and shingles, and SuperDeck® for decks, fences, and pergolas. The right product for each surface — not whatever's on hand.

Step 1

Free Estimate & Surface Assessment

What We Do

Dylan inspects the surface condition — existing finish type, moisture levels, rot or soft spots, loose boards or fasteners. He'll identify whether the surface needs stripping, cleaning only, or spot repairs before staining.

What You Do

Let Dylan know what you've had applied in the past if you know it — oil vs. water-based matters for adhesion. If you don't know, he'll determine it on-site.

Stain applied over an incompatible existing finish will fail early. Proper assessment prevents that.

Step 2

Pressure Wash & Prep

What We Do

All surfaces pressure washed to remove mildew, algae, dirt, and oxidation. Loose or peeling existing stain removed. Damaged boards or structural issues flagged and addressed before staining.

What You Do

Allow 24–48 hours drying time after pressure washing before stain application — or we use SuperDeck's damp-wood application window on the same day for qualifying surfaces.

Stain applied over mildew or surface contamination won't bond properly. The pressure wash is not optional.

Step 3

Product Selection & Application

What We Do

WoodScapes® applied to wood siding and shingles. SuperDeck® applied to decks, fences, pergolas, and any horizontal surface. Products matched to surface type — not just whichever is on hand.

What You Do

Semi-transparent or solid finish selected based on your preference and the condition of the existing wood. Dylan walks through the options at the estimate.

One product does not work for all surfaces. WoodScapes is engineered for vertical siding; SuperDeck is engineered for horizontal foot-traffic surfaces.

Step 4

Final Walkthrough & Cure Notes

What We Do

Dylan walks the finished work with you and covers care instructions — how long before foot traffic, how long before rain exposure, and when to expect the next maintenance cycle.

What You Do

Approve the finished work before payment. Typical recoating cycle is 3–5 years for decks, longer for vertical siding.

A properly maintained stain job lasts significantly longer than one left until it fails. Dylan will let you know when to plan for the next application.
